Wheaton College Studio Art Class
In the spring of 2025, I had the opportunity to refine my media skills in Professor Joonhee Park's Digital Studio class. We had four main assignments, all aligning with the Bible's creation narrative. Each day translated to the creation of a unique part of nature, and each assignment included a different medium/style of photography. I used the Fujifilm X-T30 camera for all of these projects.

"A Sense of Light + Darkness"
"And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness" (Genesis 1:3-4).
Light and darkness are concepts that are far more complex than the presence and absence of light. They evoke feelings, emotions, memories, and vivid imagery, all unique to the viewer’s experiences. For me, light and darkness symbolize a variety of memories and mental images. My inner avid-film-photographer sought to capture the simple yet elegantly urbane nature of an evening cityscape with a vintage flare, achieved through high contrast and visible grain.
Below are a collection of black and white photos that capture this concept of light and darkness. For the single photos, I stuck to the theme, Evening Errands. The diptych photos juxtapose a still neon sign with it's blurred counterpart, Neon Nights. Finally, my sequential photos explored two themes: Glowing Homes and Tempting Shopping.
