SPRING 2024
Chicago Ministry Initiative
The Inspiration
The Chicago Ministry Initiative was founded in March of 2024 by a group of Wheaton College students and myself. Ever since my church hosted a homeless package assembly night when I was in 7th grade, I have had a burden for the unhoused population on my heart. Throughout middle and high school, as well as during my time at Wheaton College, I have assembled far too many packages to count. Every impactful moment in which a blessing bag passes from my hands to those of an individual experiencing homelessness, I feel God loving others through me; I am merely an empty vessel for His redemptive work in this broken world. I have assurance that this small practice, which has now flourished into a full-fledged ministry as a result of the generosity from the Wheaton College Life Together With God Grant awarded to my classmates and I, will continue to grow and bless the unhoused community in Chicago (and, perhaps someday soon, beyond).

Let’s Work Together
This ministry isn't just limited to the Wheaton College and Chicago communities. You are also empowered to help those in your own community, in small (or big) ways such as this one. My prayer is that through reading about this ministry you feel compelled and encouraged to be proactive in serving those in your midst—maybe even rallying others to join your efforts too.
